A warm trapper hat (also called bomber hat, aviator hat, earflap hat and ushanka hat) for both winter, early spring and late autumn. It can be worn by both him and her. The outer layer of the hat is a non-stretch thin wool fabric (suit fabric is best). The inner layer or lining of the hat is a non-stretch faux fur that resembles sheepskin.

The trapper hat warms the head, neck and ears. The hat's clasp buckle is comfortable and adjustable. If you want your ears to be warm, then keep the ear part of the hat down and secure it with a clasp buckle under the chin. If you want, you can lift the ear part of the hat up and secure it with a clasp buckle on the top of the head or at the back of the head.

The trapper hat sewing pattern is multi-size and includes 8 sizes, Find your size:

XS size fits 19 3/4 inches (50 cm) head circumference,

S size fits 20 1/2 inches (52 cm) head circumference,

M size fits 21 1/4 inches (54 cm) head circumference,

L size fits 22 inches (56 cm) head circumference,

XL size fits 22 7/8 inches (58 cm) head circumference,

2XL size fits 23 5/8 inches (60 cm) head circumference,

3XL size fits 24 3/8 inches (62 cm) head circumference,

4XL size fits 25 1/4 inches (64 cm) head circumference.

How to measure the head circumference? Place the string or tape measure around your head about 1/4 inches (0,5 cm) above your ears, completely circling your head. See the photo gallery.

To sew a winter trapper hat you will need:

For hat outer layer. Non-stretch thin wool blend fabric: 59 inches (1,5 meters) wide - 1 yd (1 meter).

For hat inner layer (lining). Non stretch soft thin faux fur resembling sheepskin: 59 inches (1,5 meters) wide - 1 yd (1 meter).

For hat visor. A scrap of fusible interfacing: 12 x 12 inches (30 x 30 cm).

For hat closure straps. A scrap of matching color cotton fabric: 12 x 20 inches (30 x 50 cm).

For hat closure. One clasp buckle: 5/8 - 3/4 inches wide (1,5 - 2 cm wide).

Matching sewing threads.

This amount of materials will work for both small and large trapper hat sizes.

Tutorial and sewing patterns - all measurements are given in inches (in) and centimeters (cm).

All sewing patterns have seam allowances.

Sewing patterns you can print out on both US Letter and A4 size paper. Each size (US Letter and A4) is printed separately.

US Letter size paper measurements: 8.5 inches x 11.0 inches (21,6 cm x 27,9 cm).

A4 size paper measurements: 8.3 inches x 11.7 inches (21,0 cm x 29,7 cm).
